Start by considering your walkways. You want at least 42 inches around the perimeter of your room for walkways, as well as 42 inches between table rows. This allows enough room for people to comfortably walk past others who may still be seated.

The size of the tables you choose should also depend on the size of your room and the number of people you plan to accommodate. Tables 60 inches long and larger can accommodate two people per table. You also want to make sure the total length of your tables leaves enough room for 42-inch walkways on either side of the room. Table lengths can add up quickly. For example, three 72-inch tables add up to 18 feet. With 42-inch walkways on both sides of the row, that requires a room width of at least 25 feet.
