Choosing the right desk size starts with two things: your room size and the workspace you need.

1. Measure Your Room

For comfortable walkways, guest seating, and space to move behind your desk, we recommend 42” (3.5 ft) of clearance. This provides a comfortable walkway, meets ADA accessibility guidelines, and gives guests enough room to pull out their chairs.

To find the maximum desk size for your office, subtract 42” from the room’s length and width.

Example: A 10’ x 10’ office can accommodate a maximum desk size of approximately 6.5’ x 6.5’ when the desk is placed in the back corner.

2. Consider Your Workspace

Make sure your desk provides enough room for the workspace and storage you need.

• Return: We recommend a minimum 42” return, or 36” with a soft-corner desk.
• Storage Pedestal: If adding a storage pedestal, choose a desk that is at least 5’ long to provide adequate legroom.
